Having grown up in Queensland, Australia, Harley has spent a lot of time writing about place. His music has received comparisons from Bruce Springsteen to Jonathan Richman. Harley has played shows across the glob from Europe to the US and Canada and shared the stage with legendary acts including Julie Doiron (Eric's Trip) and Al Tuck

In 2015, he released Flinders Parade, a concept album about his home town in Sandgate, Australia. The single 'Margate GF' received considerable airplay on Australian radio stations including 4zzz, Triple J and ABC Radio National. The album also garnered plenty of acclaim from the Australian press with The Courier Mail and The Music giving it 4/5 stars and The AU Review giving it 9.2/10.

In late 2015, following the success of Flinders Parade, Harley moved to France where he released and toured the album under French label Microcultures. Harley has since relocated to London and is set to record his follow up album in 2017 with John Wilsteed (The Go Betweens), entitled Little Songs For Big People.
